CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - An online petition demanding the resignation of Missouri Senator Josh Hawley now has more 44,000 signatures. The movement stems from Hawley’s objections to the Electoral College results.
It was started by someone right here in Cape Girardeau.
“As constituents we are not happy about the way Hawley has used his position,” said Aaron Lerma.
Lerma created this petition demanding Senator Josh Hawley’s resignation.
“We’re demanding the resignation of Josh Hawley for inciting violence at our nation’s capital, and for his attempt to overthrow the election results from 2020,” he said.

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KFVS) - As a major Senate race is expected to be finalized soon in the state of Georgia, it could leave a lasting indent in politics for the next few years as to who controls the Senate.
John Shaw, the director of the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute, said the outcome will impact President-elect Joe Biden’s first 24 months in office.
“The Democrats would likely change some Senate rules to make it easier to pass legislation, allow president Biden’s nominees to get through, it would be a game changer,” said Shaw.

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KFVS) - Politicians in Washington, D.C. approved a well-awaited COVID-19 stimulus relief package.
It came nearly nine months after the first round of the stimulus package.
This time, congressed passed a nearly $900 billion CARES Act.

“The COVID relief package came probably later than it should of, probably not as big as it should have been, but I think its going to provide an important support to the national economy, to the local economy,” said Shaw.
