Wisconsin Ag News Headlines Wisconsin Ag Connection - 12/11/2020 New estimates from the USDA give us an indication of what counties produced the most winter wheat and oat crops during the past growing season. The agency says Fond du Lac County was the largest winter wheat producing county in Wisconsin in 2020 with about 667,000 bushels. Dane and Dodge Counties were second and third; with south central Wisconsin being the largest wheat producing district. Dane County was also the highest yielding county at 83.5 bushels per acre. Dodge and Columbia Counties had the next two highest yields at 82.0 and 79.0 bushels, respectively. Juneau County had the lowest yield at 46.0 bushels per acre.

Boots in the Barn dairy event to be webinar

Dec 10, 2020 Instead of holding in-person meetings for its annual Boots in the Barn program, Iowa State University Extension will host it virtually in early 2021. This annual educational program is a three-part series for women involved in a dairy operation or industry, and will be held as a webinar series. The webinars will be Jan. 22 and 29, and Feb. 5, via Zoom from noon to 1:15 p.m. each day. The Jan. 22 session will feature Sarah Adcock, assistant professor in animal welfare research at the University of Wisconsin. Adcock will discuss pain management for disbudding, and steps producers can take to stay ahead of consumer concerns and changing industry standards for this procedure.
