WATERVILLE The on-ramp from upper Main Street in Waterville to Interstate 95 northbound is scheduled to be closed from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday so a crew can remove a lighting pole.
“For the time being, out of an abundance of caution, we’re going to take (the pole) down,” said Paul Merrill, spokesman for the Maine Department of Transportation.
A routine inspection showed the base of the pole needs repairs, according to Merrill.

“Driver and passenger were killed on impact due to catastrophic injuries from crash,” Trooper Blake Conrad wrote in the report, which was filed the day after the accident but made public only recently. “The vehicle was destroyed due to crash as well as subsequent fire that started.”

FREEPORT Freeport town officials are breathing a sigh of relief after receiving word that the price tag on $1.2 million bridge replacement and sidewalk installation project could be cut nearly in half, though numbers are still being crunched.
