NEW DELHI: Hundreds of birds were reported dead in different parts of the country on Monday as the raging bird flu spread to 10 states and Union Territories, prompting several control measures and a government assurance that there are no scientific reports of the virus transmission to humans.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked all state governments to remain alert and ensure a constant vigil near places such as water bodies, zoos and poultry farms.
New Delhi [India], January 11 (ANI): Urging people to not pay heed to rumours about bird flu, Union Animal Husbandry and Dairying Minister Giriraj Singh on Monday said there is no risk to humans if the animal or poultry products are cooked properly before consuming.
Union Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Minister Giriraj Singh suggested 11 ways to ameliorate the lot of dairy farmers through new business models with the NDDB and dairy cooperatives, reports PTI.
The National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), representatives of GCMMF and Kaira District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union attended the meeting held at Anand, Gujarat.
The minister said dairying is important as it provides millions of people with jobs. Gijiraj Singh described milk as the country’s largest agricultural commodity.
