Amazon to open Last Mile Delivery Station in former Walmart building in Victorville

Tech giant Amazon will soon open a “Last Mile Delivery Station” in the empty building that once housed Walmart in the Bear Valley Plaza Shopping Center in Victorville.
City spokesperson Sue Jones said Friday that the Amazon facility, which will occupy the building near Balsam Avenue and Bear Valley Road, is “not a warehouse,” but a speed package delivery outlet.
The company s delivery stations are designed to “power the last mile of Amazon’s order fulfillment process.” Packages are transported to delivery stations from the company’s fulfillment and sortation centers, then loaded into vehicles for delivery to customers, Amazon said.
Crime and fire report: Attempted check fraud in Waubun; Tandem trailer stolen in Lake Park
On Tuesday, March 9, at 4:43 p.m., on the 39000 block of County Road 158, Waubun, a party tried to cash a blank check. The bank declined the transaction. Also on Tuesday, at 7:46 a.m., on the 14000 block SW Turtle Lake Road, Lake Park, a black Tandem trailer was stolen.

10:27 a.m., near Strawberry Mountain Road, Waubun, wood pile stolen from White Earth Forestry Department.
10:43 a.m., 35000 block Eagleview Road, Ogema, hit and run. Video surveillance being analyzed as part of investigation.
11:10 a.m., 10000 block 260th Avenue, Detroit Lakes, unemployment fraud. Caller received claims from Minnesota, Missouri and Kentucky.
11:12 a.m., 25000 block Bear Clan Drive, Ogema, overdose. Narcan administered; declined further treatment.
11:51 p.m., 1100 block Highway 10, Detroit Lakes, debit card fraud attempt. No funds lost.
12:14 p.m., 15000 block East Little Cormorant Road, Audubon, unemployment fraud attempt.
12:17 p.m., 26000 block Catfish Lane, Ogema, window damage.
