Pathankot on high alert after Jammu drone attack

1518 Pathankot, June 27 Pathankot district has been placed on a high alert after two explosive-laden drones crashed into the Air Force station in Jammu last night. SSP Surendra Lamba said all vital installation, including the ammunition depot, Mamun cantonment and the Air Force station had been provided with extra security cover. Gurdaspur SSP Nanak Singh said security had been beefed up in all border villages of this district. Recently, MP Sunny Deol had urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to establish an NSG centre in the city. The police have reasons to be on alert as the local air force station had come under a fierce attack from four Pakistan based Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists on January 2, 2016. Later, all four insurgents were killed by NSG commandos who were specially flown in from New Delhi on the intervening night of January 1 and 2.

Beyond their reach - The Hindu

Beyond their reach Updated: Updated: The villages that border the city are crippled by lack of testing and vaccine centres Share Article AAA A health worker gives polio drop to a baby at Government Health Centre in Bamnoli village.   | Photo Credit: Shiv Kumar Pushpakar The villages that border the city are crippled by lack of testing and vaccine centres In Bamnoli village, about five km from Dwarka Sector 23 police station, just one government health centre caters to nearly 10,000 residents. It is the go-to place for all COVID-related problems. Inside the dispensary, roughly the size of a two-bedroom house, a room on the left is for COVID testing, and on the right is the observation area for the vaccinated. It is also where those getting tested wait. A few civil defence volunteers are trying unsuccessfully to separate the two sets of people.

18-45 age group: Construction workers will be jabbed first | Ludhiana News

Ludhiana: Residents between 18 and 45 years of age will have to wait more for getting themselves vaccinated as first the construction workers in this age group will get immunised in the drive starting from Monday. The labour department has shared a list of such workers with the health department for the vaccination programme. District immunisation officer (DIO) Dr Puneet Juneja said as per the guidelines of the state government, construction workers would be the first among the public in the 18-45 age group to be vaccinated in the drive. He said they have already got the doses for them and these would be separate from those for other age groups of 45-59 years and 60-plus, whose vaccination would continue at government health setups. The immunisation of construction workers will be done at cluster sites and the labour department has been informed about the process, he said.
