The Thomas T. Taber Museum will display the still life painted by Severin Roesen shown here.
The Thomas T. Taber Museum of the Lycoming County Historical Society is acquiring another Severin Roesen painting. The painting has been loaned by Bobby Maguire in honor of his parents, Jim and Shirley Maguire, according to a news release.
It is Bobby Maguire’s intention to turn the loan into a permanent gift within the year.
“We are so thrilled to receive this loan from Mr. Maguire. His generosity and kindness is beyond measure thanks to him all of our visitors will be able to view the beauty of Roesen’s work,” said Gary Parks, museum director, according to a news release. “Many folks within Lycoming County appreciated his work but it was not until Jacqueline Kennedy outfitted the White House with two Roesens that his talent was more fully appreciated by our country.”

This virtual discussion will spotlight the talents of seven mixed-race artists who lived and studied in either the United States or Europe. Panelists will discuss what influenced these people to become artists and what their impact on world politics entailed.Â
The panel discussion is led by Savona Bailey-McClain, Executive Director and Chief Curator of the West Harlem Art Fund. Joining McClain is William Keyse Rudolph, Ph.D, Deputy Director, Curatorial Affairs, The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art; Virginia Anderson, Ph.D., Curator of American Art, Baltimore Museum of Art ; Paul H. D. Kaplan, Professor of Art History at Purchase College, SUNY; Daniel M. Fulco, Ph.D., Curator at the Museum of Fine Arts - Washington County.

.- The Everson Museum of Art announced today that it has purchased seven new works by contemporary artists for its growing collection of 21st century art.
Spanning a variety of media, the new acquisitions reflect the Eversons commitment to refining and diversifying its collection by adding works by artists of color, women artists, and other under-represented emerging and mid-career artists. The works are by artists who hail from across the country, but also include two artists who have lived and worked in Syracuse for decades: Ellen Blalock and Sharif Bey. Blalock previously exhibited her work at the Everson during 2012s The Other New York and Bey will have a major solo exhibition at the Everson in 2022.
