BCPS looks to hire more groundskeeper, service building workers amid shortage

Baltimore County is coming up short in hiring school employees, especially those in charge of taking care of school buildings.|| COVID-19 updates | Maryland s latest numbers | Get tested | Vaccine Info || The shortage is raising concerns from the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Workers.The head of the employee s union said Perry Hall High School is just a snapshot of what s taking place in schools across the county.Groundskeepers and buildings service workers help to keep school buildings clean year-round and school grounds trimmed but both are in short supply. The union said Perry Hall High School is at least four people short inside and outside its building. It s the same story for Perry Hall Middle School. Baltimore County Public School spokesman Charlie Herndon said he’s not surprised by what s taking place. Babuk’s posts have since been deleted, but cybersecurity expert Scott White says the hackers could be seeking a hefty payout. “I suspect in this case, being it’s the D.C. Police Service and the information if it’s true that they have involving confidential informants and so on I suspect they’re probably asking a considerable amount of money for the release of the information back [to MPD],” Mr. White, an associate professor of cybersecurity at George Washington University, told The Times.

With the help of ESL teachers, immigrants of any age are able to meet their learning goals in and outside of the classroom.  The National Center of Education Statistics reports that as of 2017, ten percent of students around the nation are English Language Learners. According to the Public Policy Institute of California , six percent of arriving immigrants of the United States  speak English before they arrive. Fortunately enough, for school age immigrants put in the public school system, they are assisted by their institutions to learn English.
