Maryland, Virginia, D C ramp up COVID-19 vaccination efforts

In the “No Arm Left Behind” campaign, health officials will work with large companies such as Southwest Airlines, Comcast, Exelon and Amazon to vaccinate their employees. The state also added walk-up lines at the Baltimore Convention Center Field Hospital, the Greenbelt Metro Station and the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Maryland has set up more than 50 mobile clinics and is continuing to expand their deployment. Nearly 56% of Maryland residents 18 years and older have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose, as of Thursday. The state has administered more than 4.1 million doses, averaging nearly 67,000 doses daily in the last seven days. More than 1.7 million residents, or about 28% of the state’s population, are fully vaccinated, the Maryland Department of Health reported.

A limited amount of 200 Pfizer vaccines will be available each day on a walk-up basis between 10am and 12pm Monday thru Saturday for individuals age 16 and older, following Maryland’s vaccination eligibility guidelines. Aligning with the charge from MDH for geographic priority at the BCCFH, the walk-up slots will be offered for residents of Baltimore City.

Baltimore Convention Center vaccination site to offer walk-ups for city residents

Credit: Sebastian Condrea As Maryland announced its 4 millionth dose of COVID-19 vaccine administered, the Baltimore Convention Center Field Hospital announced they will be offering walk-up COVID-19 vaccinations for city residents starting Thursday. The field hospital, a partnership of the Maryland Department of Health, University of Maryland Medical System and Johns Hopkins Medicine, will make 200 Pfizer shots available between 10 a.m. and noon Monday through Saturday. Any resident 16 and older is eligible to get vaccinated there.
