Harrison says conflicts in Baltimore are being settled with guns because people do not fear consequences

Credit: WBAL-TV 11 Baltimore City Police Commissioner Michael Harrison said to C4 and Bryan Nehman that he would be a part of the meeting between Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott and Gov. Larry Hogan that takes place Thursday. There’s always common ground, the question is can we come to a consensus on it, Harrison said. Harrison said there are always things that a partner, such as the state, can do to help reduce crime in the city. He also spoke on some plans to combat future crime in the summer. Each of the nine districts produce a summertime crime plan that zeros in on problem places and problem people, Harrison said. He suggested over time could be used, but the goal is to also have an adequate amount of officers and equipment.

Print Scott Wykoff, WBAL NewsRadio 1090 and FM 101.5 It appears there will soon be a meeting between Gov. Larry Hogan and Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott to focus on violence in the city. After an exchange of tweets on Tuesday and finger-pointing over violent crime in Baltimore, Hogan says he is willing to have Scott and Police Commissioner Michael Harrison come to Annapolis for a sit-down meeting about the issue. “We’ve called on the mayor and police commissioner to come down to Annapolis as fast as possible. We want to hear about what type of crime plan they have,” Hogan said Wednesday. “Last time I met with the police commissioner they had a plan that we didn’t like and gave them a lot of suggestions on, which they didn’t listen to.”
