FAIRHOPE – Fairhope High School band director Anthony Wayne Fillingim was arrested Wednesday, Jan. 27, on four felony charges of possession of obscene matter, investigators with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.
Fillingim, 43, was charged after deputies searched his Daphne home. A warrant had been issued after an investigation of reports determined that that Fillingim had downloaded sexually explicit images of someone younger than 17, a Sheriff’s Office statement said.
Investigators searching his home found at least one electronic device that was directly related to the transfer of the unlawful images. They also seized other devices that are being checked, the statement said.

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA)- On January 27, 2021, investigators with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office arrested Anthony Fillingim, Jr. on four counts of Possession of Obscene Matter.
The Baldwin County Board of Education says Fillingim, the band director at Fairhope High School, is on administrative leave and has no other information at this time.

CROSSROADS, Alabama In what is believed to be the first homicide of 2021 in Baldwin County, a Bay Minette man is being charged with murder after another man died of gunshot wounds at a local hospital late Monday.
According to jail records, 30-year-old Christopher Lee Atchison of Bay Minette was booked into the Baldwin County Corrections Facility at 9:27 p.m. on Monday where he is currently being held without bond.
The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Department released a statement around 9:20 p.m. on Monday that a shooting had occurred around 4 p.m. that afternoon in the area of Whippoorwill Lane and Alabama 225 in the Crossroads Community near Bay Minette.
