Skinner pleaded guilty to indecently assaulting one girl in 2015 and another in 2019. The pleas came 10 days before a trial was to start, and both crimes were against girls he already knew. The 2015 offending happened when he was in a room with a girl who lay on a bed. He started indecently assaulting her. She tried to shuffle away, after which he got up and whispered in her ear, asking if she liked what was happening. She said she felt tired and wanted to sleep before leaving the room. Skinner told police he thought the girl was of age, so he did not know what he did was wrong.
Alderdice said Baker had a troubled relationship with her ex-partner, who was in the Mongrel Mob. Although she loved him there was a history of violence but, this was Baker’s first violent offence. On the night in question, police were called to the Feilding property to break up an argument. Her partner left but came back and when Baker asked him to leave, he became angry. He grabbed a pole and started smashing a car, sparking a physical fight. The fight ended when Baker pulled a switchblade, her partner cutting his hand while trying to take it from her.
