Firefighters have cut one person from their car wreck near Marton overnight.
Firefighters worked into the night to free a person trapped in their car after a serious crash near Marton. Emergency services were called to help two people following a single-car crash at the intersection of Pukepapa Rd and State Highway 3, Lake Alice at, 9.50pm on Wednesday. Marton’s volunteer fire brigade arrived to find one person was trapped in their vehicle after it had rolled in the “fairly nasty” crash, Fire and Emergency spokesman Carlos Dempsey said. The other person was out of the vehicle.

Emergency services were called to a serious crash on SH3, near Whangaeho Bridge, south of Whanganui at 5pm on Tuesday
A crash on State Highway 3, south of Whanganui, has left four people seriously injured. Emergency services were called to a two-car collision on the highway, near Whangaehu Bridge, at 4.50pm on Tuesday. A St John Ambulance spokeswoman said four people were seriously injured and taken to Whanganui Hospital, three were taken by ambulance while the fourth was flown out by the Palmerston North Rescue Helicopter at 6.15pm. Fire Service NZ spokeswoman Belinda Beets said firefighters had to extract one person from the wrecked vehicles, but most had managed to escape themselves.
