LARNED Pawnee County Attorney Doug McNett has issued the 2020 county case statistics report. McNett said the information presented in the report is based solely on which agency drafted the affidavit.
Agencies include the Larned Police Department, Pawnee County Sheriff, Kansas Highway Patrol, Kansas Department of Corrections, Larned State Hospital and “other.”
“The general classification of the type of case of the filings was based on the primary nature of each case,” said McNett. “Like everyone else in the world, COVID did impact our numbers.”

Four arrested for Burdett shooting, attempted robbery

LARNED – Four people, including two juveniles, have been arrested in connection with the shooting and attempted robbery of two men in Burdett earlier this month, the Pawnee County Attorney reported.
Thomas R. “Tre” Jones III, 21, and Tristin M. Scott, 18, both of Larned, made first appearances in the case Wednesday afternoon before Magistrate Judge Julie Cowell, according to a release from Pawnee County Attorney Douglas W. McNett.
Cowell set a Jan 5 preliminary hearing for Jones, while Scott’s hearing was set for Jan. 6. Both remain in the Pawnee County jail.
Agents of the Kansas Bureau of Investigation arrested Jones and Scott, along with two juveniles, separately earlier in the day Wednesday.
