BC Health officials praise Northern Health as UHNBC resumes some non-urgent surgeries SHARE ON: Vaccine (Photo: First Nations Health Authority/Twitter) Due to the North’s vaccine rollout efforts, Northern Health has been able to resume some non-urgent scheduled surgeries at UHNBC. “There has been extraordinary work in Northern Health, especially in the last couple of months by our doctors, nurses, health sciences professionals, health care workers, everyone in Northern Health,” said Health Minister Adrian Dix, “we should all be encouraged by this development.” However, these results occurring in the North aren’t following through in the Lower Mainland, as case counts are putting a strain on many of their hospitals.

Posted: April 22, 2021 B.C.’s COVID-19 updates for April 22 Dr. Bonnie Henry, B.C.’s provincial health officer, and Adrian Dix, Minister of Health, today (April 22) issued the following joint statement regarding updates on the COVID-19 response in British Columbia. B.C. Minister of Health Adrian Dix. Today, we are reporting 1,006 new cases, for a total of 122,757 cases in British Columbia. There are 8,733 active cases of COVID-19 in the province, with 12,846 people under public health monitoring as a result of identified exposure to known cases. A further 112,235 people who tested positive have recovered. Of the active cases, 502 individuals are currently hospitalized with COVID-19, 161 of whom are in intensive care. The remaining people with COVID-19 are recovering at home in self-isolation.
