Law enforcement release name of man killed during fugitive shootout

POCATELLO, Idaho (KIFI)- UPDATE
Feb. 20 8:30 p.m.: The Bannock County Sheriff Office has released the name of the man who was killed during a shootout with U.S. Marshalls in Chubbuck on Feb. 13, 2021.
They said Brandon Steklein, 42, of Pocatello was killed. They didn t say what relation he had with Richard Rocky Iverson.
Original Story Feb. 15, 2021: A weekend shooting between U.S. Marshals and 2 armed suspects ended with one man dead and a dangerous fugitive in jail.
Bingham County Sheriff s office originally called in the U.S. Marshals office to help with a failure to appear warrant issued for Richard Rocky Iverson. He was accused of 5 counts of lewd conduct with a minor under 16.

ATOMIC CITY Former Atomic City mayor Christian Polatis was arrested Sunday after he allegedly fired a rifle at a man.
Polatis, 62, has been charged with discharging a firearm at an occupied motor vehicle, a felony. He has also been charged with misdemeanor resisting and obstructing an investigation.
Polatis was mayor of Atomic City until it was disincorporated in December.
Officers from the Bingham County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the area of Atomic City Bar and Store on Feb. 7 after 911 calls about an aggravated assault.

BLACKFOOT, Idaho (KIFI) - Attorney General Lawrence Wasden has announced the arrest of a Blackfoot man following an investigation by his office’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit.
The Bingham County Sheriff’s Office arrested Andrew R. Young, 33, on January 28. A warrant had been issued for his arrest after the execution of a residential search warrant in Blackfoot in December 2020.
Young is charged with alleged sexual exploitation of a child. He is alleged to have possessed sexually exploitative material. He was booked into the Bonneville County Jail following his arrest.
Man arrested for kidnapping

BINGHAM COUNTY, Idaho (KIFI) - The Bingham County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call for a kidnapping around 10:56 a.m. Thursday at 139 south 1075 west.
Deputies have arrested Pocatello resident 42-year-old George Carl Capson.
Capson is being held in the Bingham County Jail on a $1 million bond for the charges of first-degree stalking, kidnapping 2
nd degree, domestic battery Felony, CPO violation and burglary.

Adult Killed, Two Children Injured in ATV Crash Near Aberdeen
ABERDEEN, Idaho (KLIX)-A 61-year-old Aberdeen man was killed and two juveniles hospitalized after they were thrown from their ATV Tuesday evening.
According to Idaho State Police, troopers assisted the Bingham County Sheriff s Office with the investigation of the ATV crash on 1900 S, just west of 2900 W near Aberdeen at around 4 p.m. ISP said in a statement Theodore Klassen was driving the Suzuki Kingquad on 1900 S when he lost control, went off the road and overturned. The man and two child passengers were thrown from the ATV.
Klassen died at the scene while the two passengers were taken to Power County Hospital in American Falls. ISP said no one had been wearing helmets.
