New York New Single Day COVID Infections Back Over 1,000 Photo: Bob Joseph/WNBF News (file) State officials reported July 18 1,142 new infections and two deaths and that the state’s total COVID cases has now surpassed 2.1 million.  This is the first time since the end of May that new infections in a daily report have exceeded one-thousand. Current local numbers are harder to come by as most Southern Tier Counties are only providing updated numbers weekly, if at all, and on different days of the week.  The local numbers reported by counties do not agree with the New York State dashboard due to different timetables and processes for reporting numbers.
