Cider Mill to sell doughnuts during St Patrick s Day special event

The sweet tastes of autumn available in late winter? Yes, it s true doughnut lovers won’t need the luck of the Irish on St. Patrick’s Day to get their hands on some of the tastiest offerings in the region. The Cider Mill in Endicott will debut its new Belshaw doughnut machine March 17 when the popular Nanticoke Avenue business marks the holiday with a special one-day offering of cinnamon, sugar, plain and green iced doughnuts. Typically, the Cider Mill s season runs from the first week of August to Dec.1. According to the Cider Mill’s Facebook page, St. Patrick s Day hours will run from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the doughnuts-only sale. Prices are $5 for a dozen, $3 for a half dozen and $1 for one doughnut. All purchases require cash no credit cards or school vouchers will be accepted.

Owego Strawberry Festival canceled again due to COVID-19 pandemic

A popular Owego festival is being scratched for the second year due to uncertainty over the COVID-19 pandemic. Historic Owego Marketplace, a nonprofit organization that promotes the village as a retail and cultural center, organizes the annual Strawberry Festival. The organization s board of directors has decided this year s festival, planned for June, would once again be canceled. Organizers said the major annual event requires months of planning, financial commitments, mass gathering permits, security and sanitation costs, and insurance fees. With lingering effects from the pandemic still creating uncertainty, the Historic Owego Marketplace board unanimously voted to hold off on the festival until next year.

Hope s Closet gives away clothes, accessories to people in need
