Subscriber only A father-of-three from Logan seemed surprised to be taken into police custody at the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Tuesday after he pleaded guilty to spitting in the face of a health worker at the Logan Hospital. Christopher James Cashman, 33, pleaded guilty to 13 charges, spanning from November to February, including seriously assaulting a public officer by spitting, unlawful possession of a semiautomatic pistol and contravening an order to allow police access to his phone. The Magistrate described the most significant of the charges, the assault, as a despicable act . It would have caused the (health worker) extreme distress that may be continuing to this day with the uncertainty around whether or not any diseases will manifest at a later date because of this act, he said.

A repeat traffic offender avoided jail time but copped a large fine and suspension.
Michael James Cole, 43, pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Friday to driving without a licence which while disqualified by court order and drug driving.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Merrilyn Hoskins said Calliope police intercepted a Nissan station wagon on Tableland Rd, Taunton, on August 1, around 5.10pm.
She said checks on Cole’s licence revealed he was disqualified from driving in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on July 15, 2019, for three years.
Sergeant Hoskins said when questioned as to why he was driving while disqualified, Cole stated he had taken over driving a short time earlier after his female passenger had felt unwell while driving.

Subscriber only A MAN charged with the murder of Gold Coast teenager Jack Beasley has been jailed for again breaching bail, but will be back in the community by next week. The 20-year-old, who the Bulletin cannot name for legal reasons despite him being an adult, has breached bail 13 times since he was released from custody by the Supreme Court in March 2020, the Bulletin can reveal. In the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Tuesday, the man was jailed for 21 days for breaching curfew on April 30. The offence also triggered a suspended sentence he was given days earlier in the Ipswich Magistrates Court for breaching bail.
