Avengers: Endgame). Certainly, Marvel s head honchos have earned enough trust in Hollywood to step away from the caped crusaders and tackle a crime drama that s quite a noted departure â thematically and tonally â from what we ve seen inside the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Cherry for themselves until it hits Apple TV+ in March, following its limited theatrical release in February. That s still a few more weeks away, but we do know some key bits of info about this two-and-a-half-hour-long Tom Holland starring vehicle.

Providing an intensely darker, more brooding take on the famous DC Comics character than we ve seen in previous live-action features, Todd Phillips heavily Martin Scorsese-influenced
Joker, a character study exploring the reworked origin story of the titular character, divided critics but became an unlikely worldwide hit. The R-rated dramatic film grossed over a billion dollars worldwide and it received 11 Oscar nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director, with Joaquin Phoenix winning Best Actor for his unhinged portrayal of The Clown Prince of Crime. However you feel about the movie itself, it s hard to deny the visceral power of the lead actor s committed performance.
After getting down and dirty in Netflix’s
The Devil All The Time, Tom “Spidey” Holland will again flex his dramatic abilities outside of a green screen. Joining him are the Russo Brothers, the architects behind
Infinity War and
Endgame, who are also dialing down their big-bang aesthetic with
Cherry, a sprawling addiction drama based on Nico Walker’s 2018 novel. We caught a teaser of the Apple TV+ original film over the weekend, but now a full trailer has arrived to show Holland’s striking transformation from doe-eyed schoolboy to PTSD-afflicted veteran to drug-addled criminal.
