Odisha Makes COVID-19 Screening of Passengers From 12 States Mandatory
The state governmentâs action came a day after two passengers were tested positive for COVID-19 after they disembarked at the Bhubaneswar airport.

Bhubaneswar:Â The Odisha government Thursday made screening of passengers coming to the state by flights and trains from 12 states mandatory as its COVID-19 tally touched 3,36,924 after 89 more people tested positive for the contagion, a senior state health official said.
Keeping in view the upsurge in COVID-19 cases in 12 states, the Odisha government alerted the authorities to take measures to prevent the spread of the pandemic. The 12 states from where passengers will be screened are Maharashtra, Kerala, Telangana, Chhattishgarh, West Bengal, Punjab, Delhi, Chandigarh, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, the official said.

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will receive the second consignment of Covishield and Covaxin vaccines Tuesday.
“The Pune-based Serum Institute of India (SII) is scheduled to dispatch the second consignment of 33,450 vials (3,34,500 doses),” said sources in the Health and Family Welfare Department.
The vaccines will be arrive at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar around 4:25 pm. After the arrival, the vials will be taken to the State Vaccine Store on the premises of the office of the Odisha State Medical Corporation Ltd (OSMCL) at Mancheswar.
Notably, out of a total of 3.28 lakh health workers shortlisted for the vaccination, about 1.92 lakh will be vaccinated in the first phase that is scheduled to be completed by January 25.

BHUBANESWAR: The wait for the Covid-19 vaccine finally gets over. A Cargo flight carrying the consignment from Pune is scheduled to land at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar at 4.25pm, official sources said.
Additional chief secretary (health) Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra said Bhubaneswar will get 34 cases of Covishield vaccine 10 dose, i.e, 40,800 vials.
The sources said the vaccines will be delivered by AAI Cargo Logistics and Allied Services Company Limited (AAICLAS) in Chennai, Kolkata, Guwahati, Vijayawada, Bhubaneswar, Ahmedabad, Patna and Lucknow.
According to the SOP, the vaccine boxes will be delivered to the consignee at the respective airports within 10 minutes of arrival. In Bhubaneswar, the vaccine will be shifted from the airport to the state vaccine store and from there to the regional and district stores later.
BHUBANESWAR: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ask the ministry of civil aviation to establish an international airport at Puri, which is located just 60km from Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar.
Naveen requested to name the proposed airport as Sri Jagannath International Airport. In a letter to Modi, Naveen cited several reasons for establishing an international airport in Puri. Naveen said Puri has the potential to become a hub of spiritual, international tourism and economic activities.
“Puri is one of the four holy dhams in the country. The world famous Rath Yatra of Jagannath temple at Puri attracts lakhs of pilgrims and visitors from across the globe every year. The holy Rath Yatra is celebrated across 192 countries. The proposed international airport will help bring devotees from across the world to Puri and promote Jagannath culture globally,” Naveen’s letter said.
