PITTSFIELD â From a possible decision on winter sports to a proposal to add an outdoor bike skills track at Springside Park, recreation is on the cityâs agenda this week.
The Pittsfield School Committee holds a special meeting Monday to take up a question on the mind of many of Pittsfield Public Schools students and families: Will winter sports happen during the pandemic, and, if so, in whole or in part?
In August, the School Committee voted unanimously to postpone all interscholastic athletic activities in the Pittsfield Public Schools through Nov. 30, 2020, with the hope for a three-season float, with determination of interscholastic athletic activities subsequent to Nov. 30 to be made by the school committee.
PITTSFIELD â The expected approval of a coronavirus vaccine is fueling hopes for life post-pandemic, but municipal and health leaders say that now is not the time to get lax with COVID-19 precautions.
âWe are all so relieved to know that thereâs a vaccine on the way, but we have to manage our expectations here ⦠there are a lot of variables attached to when we get the vaccines, which populations get it,â Mayor Linda Tyer said. âSo, yes, itâs outstanding news, we are all so relieved, and we still have to remain vigilant in our activities and the choices that we make to protect ourselves from transmission.â
