Palm Harbor, Fl. (Florida News Network)-A Pinellas Deputy has been arrested accused of handcuffing his girlfriend behind her back and holding her against her will. Supervisors at the sheriff s office says it started after his girlfriend confronted 23 year old Deputy Jared Toro about infidelity, which became physical. Toro s accused of holding her against a wall and forcing her to sit on the floor for several minutes restrained. After he removed the handcuffs he left the residence. During questioning Toro admitted handcuffing the victim against her will. He s charged with one count of Domestic Battery and one count of False Imprisonment. Deputy Toro has also been relieved of his position and authority as a deputy sheriff, he will be given a non-sworn position pending the outcome of the criminal case and an internal investigation. Toro started with the Pinellas Sheriff s Office in 2018.
Pinellas commissioners approve body cams for all deputies
The program to outfit 875 deputies with cameras, which Sheriff Bob Gualtieri announced last October, is formally moving forward.

Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieriâs plan for all deputies to be outfitted with body-worn cameras is officially moving forward, as county commissioners on Tuesday approved spending millions to fund the program.
Gualtieri announced his intentions to implement body cameras in October, and a pilot program involving 30 deputies began the same month. Heâd been hesitant about the cameras for years, even as other agencies across the country adopted them, he said, because he felt the technology wasnât up to snuff.
