Ayanda ‘Scara’ Zaca (18) appeared before the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on charges of carjacking and kidnapping. He was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment and was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.
On 28 October 2020 at 02:30, a 30-year-old man was driving along Coffee Farm in KwaNdengezi when armed men accosted him. At gunpoint, he was assaulted and forced into the back of the vehicle. They took him to Mpumalanga area where he was held captive in a house. The victim managed to escape and called his mother who reported the matter to the police.
An intensive investigation by KwaNdengezi detectives led to the arrest of the accused who was arrested at his home at Unit 3 in Mpumalanga. Zaca made several court appearances until he was convicted and sentenced.

Priestâs home to be searched after allegedly stealing from late loverâs home

A Catholic priest sworn to celibacy but who had a love affair with a married woman has been interdicted and restrained by the Pinetown Magistrateâs Court from disposing and concealing assets belonging to his late loverâs estate.
The priest, Father Alexius Lindani Madela, claimed the deceased, Neliswe Mokoena, his life partner, had written a letter nominating him as her sole beneficiary.
However, magistrate Mondli Nhlangulela said the letter could not hold any legal weight in a court of law unless declared by the high court as Nelisiweâs last will and testament.
Siyabonga Mbobo: Four accused found guilty of politically-motivated murder
Four suspects accused of killing 50-year-old Siyabonga Mbobo in 2016 were given life sentences this week.
In the strides to curb political infighting amongst communities, four suspects were convicted by the Durban Regional Court on Wednesday, 17 February 2021 following a lengthy trial.
The four accused were on trial for the murder of an Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) member, the 50-year-old Siyabonga Mbobo who was shot and killed in 2016 when a fight broke out at a local community.
Life imprisonment
The convicted murderers, Zwelandile Gutyana (28), Aphelele Mcobothi (23), Siyabonga Ntsethe (33) and Mthethiswa Ntsazana (44) were arrested on 16 September 2016 following a Hawks’ Serious Organized Crime Investigation.
