Special Report-U S regulators ignored workers COVID-19 safety complaints amid deadly outbreaks | WTVB | 1590 AM · 95 5 FM

By Chris Kirkham and Benjamin Lesser (Reuters) - Miguel Cabezola, a driver for United Parcel Service Inc in Tucson, Arizona, complained on March 27 to U.S. workplace safety regulators, alleging the company was taking a lax approach to social distancing, sanitizing equipment and quarantining workers with COVID-19 symptoms. He hoped for an inspection of the facility that would force changes to protect worker safety. Instead, the state arm of the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) summarized Cabezola s concerns in an email to company management, reviewed the UPS response and closed the file. Over the next two months, a COVID-19 outbreak infected more than 40 Tucson UPS workers - including a manager who eventually died - and caused delivery delays throughout southern Arizona, according to interviews with six Tucson UPS workers and local union officials of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.

Clean Energy Fuels Partners with Supermajors on Renewable Natural Gas

Clean Energy Fuels Partners with Supermajors on Renewable Natural Gas A major distributor of renewable natural gas (RNG) for transportation has crafted separate partnerships with global supermajors BP plc and Total SE to expand U.S. production of the potentially carbon-negative fuel. Newport Beach, CA-based Clean Energy Fuels Corp. announced Monday it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to create a 50/50 joint venture with Total to develop carbon-negative RNG production facilities, along with credit support to build additional downstream RNG fueling infrastructure.  Under the agreement, Total will provide $50 million and Clean Energy $30 million for the proposed joint venture (JV), and Total also will be providing $65 million of credit support for Clean Energy’s development in the RNG value chain, including $45 million for contracted RNG fueling infrastructure.

Clean Energy, bp Developing RNG Facilities

NGT News December 22, 2020 Clean Energy Fuels Corp. says it will work with BP Products North America Inc., a subsidiary of bp, to develop, own and operate new renewable natural gas (RNG) facilities at dairies and other agriculture facilities. Carbon emissions captured from dairies and turned into a transportation fuel reduce the harmful effects on long-term climate change. As a result, the California Air Resources Board gives these carbon-negative RNG projects a carbon intensity (CI) Score (gCO2e/MJ) of -250 (or lower) compared to 97 for diesel and 46 for electric batteries. The demand for this carbon-negative fuel has significantly accelerated over the last few years. Some of the largest heavy-duty fleets in the world such as UPS, Republic Services, New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority and LA Metro are currently and successfully operating tens of thousands of vehicles on RNG.
