MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating its 15th homicide.
The incident happened at the corner of Columbus Road and Helon Street just before 1:30 a.m.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, a person was found with a gunshot wound to the lower extremity.
The victim was taken to Atrium Health Navicent but later died around 2:30 a.m.
The name of the individual cannot be released until the next of kin has been notified.
The Sheriff’s Office says the investigation is in its early stages, and more information will be released as soon as it becomes available.
Man shot in lower back in Macon early Monday morning dies
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A man is dead after being shot in Macon early Monday morning.
According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, 48-year-old Parrish Forester was shot in the lower back on Mumford Road at West Napier Avenue.
Macon-Bibb County Coroner, Leon Jones, said Forester was pronounced dead just before 3:00 a.m. at Atrium Health Navicent, the Medical Center.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office does not have information on a suspect or a motive for the shooting at this time.

MACON, Ga. Thursday night, the family and colleagues of Christopher Knight gathered in front of the Bibb Sheriff s Office for a candlelight vigil to remember the fallen deputy.

MACON, Ga. Deputy Christopher Knight worked the overnight shift at the Bibb County jail.
His mother, Cheryl Knight, says despite the hours, he loved his job.
Knight says as a kid, her son was respectful and always had a smile. If you got to meet him, you would instantly like him, he s just the kind of person, he just had that infectious personality that you just like him immediately once you meet him, she says.

MACON, Ga. A woman is recovering after someone shot into a Macon home Thursday and drove off.
A news release from the sheriff s office says it happened in the 2400 block of Tredway Drive after 5:30 p.m.
A woman was reportedly inside the house with her family when they heard gunshots.
The woman realized she got shot in her hand and leg. That s when she was taken to The Medical Center, Atrium Health Navicent, where she s listed in stable condition.
