Temporary flood barriers breached in Bewdley | Kidderminster Shuttle

BUILDINGS on Beales Corner, Bewdley, are now flooded after temporary barriers were breached overnight.  Rising river levels along the Severn is causing concern as the full impact of the recent heavy rain fall, caused by Storm Christoph, comes to light. The environment agency incident response staff are liaising with emergency services and have asked residents to move possessions and valuables off the ground or to safety and have a bag ready with vital items, such as medicines and insurance documents. Picture: Environment Agency Flooding will affect Beales Corner, Severnside South, Kidderminster Road, B456, access to Bewdley Bridge including property on Stourport Road. Millside Court, Kidderminster and Stourport Roads, Greenacres Lane, Pewterers Alley, Springfield Place, Ricketts Place, Springfield Villas, Nunneries and Acacia Avenue.

Bewdley Bridge closed as River Severn set to rise above 5m

Bewdley Bridge has been closed to vehicle traffic as a result of rising levels in the River Severn FLOOD barriers have been extended at Beales Corner in Bewdley as levels in the River Severn continue to rise as a result of Storm Christoph. The river at Bewdley is now expected to peak above 5m on Saturday (January 23) - higher than previously predicted. Bewdley Bridge has been closed to vehicle traffic and the flood alert for Bewdley has now been upgraded to a flood warning, meaning the Environment Agency predicts that flooding is predicted.
