Beaumont Health, the state’s largest hospital system, is expanding COVID-19 vaccines to non-patients, and has added three walk-in clinics this week in Southfield.

HOUSTON (Reuters) -The United Steelworkers union (USW) called on Exxon Mobil Corp to continue negotiations for a new Beaumont, Texas, refinery contract despite the company’s threat to lock out workers on May 1 if there is no agreement.

“These negotiations are not about wages,” said Darrell Kyle, president of USW Local 13-243, which represents 650 workers at the 369,024 barrel-per-day (bpd) Beaumont refinery and adjoining blending and packaging plant.
“Our greatest concern is making sure our lives and our jobs are safe and secure,” Kyle said in a statement issued by the union.

DETROIT – Emergency rooms are overwhelmed with patients in Metro Detroit.
Michigan continues to lead the country in COVID case rates, but did see a drop in cases on Saturday.
April 17, 2021:
The state has added 5,530 new cases Saturday.
Lake Huron Medical Center said ambulance traffic is being rerouted, but all walk-in traffic is being treated. The Port Huron Hospital said it’s sending patients to other hospitals.
“One of the big concerns that we have right now is capacity,” said Dr. Justin Skrzynski.
