PEORIA, Ill. The City of Peoria is asking residents to give their input on how the city should spend more than $36 million in COVID-19 relief funds.
The funds must be obligated by the end of the year in 2024.
The federal government allocated $350 billion for state and local governments in the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan.
The city overall will receive more than $47 million in Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds.
The Peoria City Council voted in June to use just over $10 million of that money to eliminate the need to issue working cash bonds in 2021 and to curtail furloughs for affected non-union employees.
