A TROUBLED teenager convicted over a shocking bottle attack was back in court for possessing two knives at a pub. Bradley Garrett caused outrage when he smashed a Champagne bottle into the face of Yehsung Kim in Brighton. Video footage of the racist incident went viral, and the attack left the Korean student needing £2,000 worth of dental bills. At first Garrett, who was 15 at the time of the attack, was given a suspended sentence because of the delay in the case coming to court. But last year he was sent into youth detention for admitting being drunk and disorderly, when His Honour Judge Stephen Mooney finally lost patience with the 19-year-old.
Gregory Sleigh assaulted his ex-girlfriend Broghan Fowler in Peacehaven. The 26-year-old confronted her in the kitchen of a shared home and reportedly grabbed her by the throat, a court heard. Ms Fowler was knocked backwards to the floor during the incident. The row had erupted when Ms Fowler accused Sleigh of stealing her fizzy drink, Brighton Magistrates’ Court heard. She went downstairs determined to steal Sleigh’s ketchup in retribution. The court heard how the incident had unfolded in June last year. They had previously split up, but by coincidence ended up living in the same shared house together. It put Sleigh, of Mitchelldean, Peacehaven, in breach of a restraining order imposed after a previous incident in 2018.
Gambling addict Kim Ashurst stole from Charter Medical Centre in Hove and from Foundry Healthcare which runs GP surgeries in Lewes, including in School Hill A WOMAN stole more than £60,000 from her employers to fund her online gambling habit. Kim Ashurst worked at the Charter Medical Centre in Davigdor Road, Hove, and for Foundry Healthcare in Lewes. Her addiction to roulette and blackjack online started in 2019, and through the lockdown her losses mounted. She created fake invoices for equipment at the doctors surgeries. But Ashurst was rumbled when Charter’s business manager Nina Graham carried out a quarterly accounts review and spotted the transfer of £30,000 into Ashurst’s account.
Police were called after a man was seen smashing the windows of the Kamsons store in Hastings. A witness intervened to stop the man getting into the pharmacy at the York Buildings at 1.45am yesterday (Thursday, April 8). The suspect left the scene and nothing was taken. Police say a man was arrested nearby in Castle Hill Road. The force said that Craig McNicol, 35, of Ashford Road, Hastings, was charged with burglary other than a dwelling with intent to steal. McNicol was due to appear before Brighton Magistrates’ Court today (Friday, April 9).

Officers were called on Saturday over a man acting suspiciously in Spring Gardens, Lewes. When they searched the area they found a man in Lancaster Street who had electric equipment and keys. This led police to Friars Walk, where two homes were burgled and other homes were also targeted. There were signs of someone attempting to force entry. Now, Sussex Police said an arrest was made, and a man was charged with nine offences. John Paul Healey, 39, is accused of two burglaries and theft, seven attempted burglaries with intent to steal, and one count of assault by beating of an emergency worker.
