Officers seized cannabis plants worth an estimated £59,000 at a property in Hailsahm on Saturday A MAN has been charged after police discovered more than 70 cannabis plants with an estimated value of almost £60k inside a house. Officers searched a property in Swan Road in Hailsham on Saturday after reports of suspected drug activity in the area. They found 71 cannabis plants inside, with an estimated street value of £59,000. Police seized the plants and growing equipment and arrested a 59-year-old man at the scene. Gintautas Zulys, of Swan Road, Hailsham, was charged with producing a controlled drug of Class B, cannabis. He appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Monday and is next scheduled to appear at crown court on February 8.
A 17-year-old boy is set to appear at Lewes Crown Court today charged with murder after Donatello Restaurant owner Sue Addis was found dead in Brighton A BOY is set to appear in court today charged with the murder of a much-loved restaurant owner. The 17-year-old will face a murder charge at Lewes Crown Court following the death of 69-year-old Sue Addis in Brighton on Thursday evening. Police found the body of the Donatello Restaurant owner after being called to a house in Cedars Gardens, in the Withdean area of Brighton, shortly before 7pm. A murder investigation was launched by the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team who, working with local officers, arrested a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of murder later that night.
One neighbour, who did not wish to be named, said she saw Mrs Addis last week. She said: “I’ve met her a few times. She came to drop some post off so I literally saw her last week. “She was a lovely lady who was dropping off post that was delivered to the wrong address. “I’ve seen her go in the mornings to work and I know she’s got grandchildren who would always come and play football in the garden. There were countless tributes to Ms Addis, who was a prominent figure in the Brighton business world.

Derek Winston Seekings, 66, was found guilty of two counts of rape between 1994 and 2000 following a four-day trial at Brighton Magistrates’ Court. Seekings, who was still serving as an officer when the rapes occurred before retiring in 2005, will be sentenced on Wednesday (January 13). One of the offences took place during his meal break while he was on duty, with the other taking place off duty.
