Watchdog Files FEC Complaint Accusing Pro-Trump Super PAC of ‘Illegal, Unreported, and Excessive’ Campaign Contributions Jerry Lambe
A non-partisan campaign watchdog is accusing a pro-
Donald Trump super political action committee (PAC) of illegally paying to distribute an advertisement video produced by the Trump campaign across several critical swing states in violation of federal campaign contribution laws.
In a complaint filed this week with the Federal Election Commission (FEC), the Campaign Legal Center (CLC) claimed that super PAC “Our American Century” spent between $5,100 and $251,000 to distribute a Trump campaign ad “in its entirety” to voters in Michigan, Arizona, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. The ad even kept the original “paid for by the Trump Campaign” disclaimer when it aired.
Watchdog: Amy McGrath Campaign Illegally Coordinated with Democratic Party Super PACs in Bid to Unseat Mitch McConnell Colin Kalmbacher
The Senate campaign of twice-failed candidate
Amy McGrath illegally coordinated with a Democratic Party Super PAC in violation of federal campaign finance law, according to a complaint recently filed with the Federal Election Commission (FEC).
Submitted with the gridlocked federal campaign spending oversight board by non-partisan, public interest watchdog the Campaign Legal Center (CLC) late Wednesday, the group on Thursday announced that McGrath’s campaign–along with the Senate campaign of Democrat
Mike Espy–had violated federal law during the 2020 election.
There’s still no winner in New York’s 22nd Congressional district, where Republican Claudia Tenney and Democratic Incumbent Anthony Brindisi are vying for the last undecided House seat. This week, county Boards of Elections are recounting some of the race’s ballots. The partial canvasses were ordered by an Oswego County Supreme Court justice after the Boards’ clerical errors made judicial review of hundreds of ballots challenged by the candidates impossible.
It’s unclear just how many hundreds of challenge ballots there are, but with only 12 votes separating the candidates, the court’s rulings on them might determine the race’s outcome.
Members of the Electoral College will meet in Lansing and state capitals nationwide on Monday to cement the victory of President-elect Joe Biden, but even that won’t necessarily end President Donald Trump’s longshot bid to overturn the election.
Michigan’s 16 electors mostly activists who were selected during the Democratic Party Convention in August are set to convene at 2 p.m. in the state Senate Building in Lansing to vote for Biden, a Democrat who won the state by 154,000 votes.
The delegates are from each of the state’s 14 congressional districts and two are at-large. State law bans “faithless electors,” meaning they are bound to vote for their pledged candidate. If they don’t do so, their vote won’t count and they will be replaced.
