A recent report neglects to mention how France forced Arab Jews to adopt the European persona of Jew as citizen and see Arabs and Muslims as others.
Dear Benjamin Stora,
In 2017, French President Emanuel Macron acknowledged that the colonization of Algeria was a crime against humanity. Along with many others, I was looking forward to reading your recently released report on the subject, which you wrote on commission from the president. Having read it, however, I am dismayed at the absence of discussion of imperial crimes I fail to understand these omissions. Though there are many, I will focus on one: the destruction of Jewish cultures in the Maghreb.

In one of his first acts as president, Joe Biden issued an executive order returning the United States to the Paris Agreement on climate change.
The Paris Agreement was adopted by a United Nations climate conference in Paris in December 2015. It entered into force on November 4, 2016, with the United Nations listing 190 Parties to the Agreement as of January 25, 2021. The Paris Agreement creates an unprecedented framework for global action to avoid potentially catastrophic planetary warming while building global resilience to the climate impacts, we are already experiencing.

Moustapha Diagne remembers a time when kids in Guet Ndar played football on the beach behind the houses. If you brought 10 teams together, Diagne, 23, says, they would all fit comfortably on the beach.
But today, it would be hard to even have a simple kickabout in the space that is left. The sea is at the doorsteps of Guet Ndar, a neighbourhood of Saint Louis, gnawing at the beach, shrinking it. Buildings, neighbours and a little of the childhood Diagne remembers are gone and what is left of that massive football field is barely enough for the fishermen to keep their fishing boats on.

02/02/2021
Following the four-hour meeting with French President Emanuel Macron in Paris on Monday, Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic said they mostly talked about the relations between Belgrade and Pristina, adding he believed France would “seriously support Serbia on its European path.
He also said the bilateral relations and specific projects, such as Belgrade subway were also discussed, and that Serbia planned to start the construction works of the first line by the end of the year.
„The visit was great, Macron is coming to Serbia in September or October, and it will be a big event. Many contracts will be signed,“ Vucic said.
