Me: Sir, you’ve called a bookstore.
AG: This is Capitol Hill, isn’t it!!!
Me: Capitol Hill is a neighborhood.
AG: Well put me through to AOC!
“I tried to explain that Capitol Hill is both [the] Hill and a neighborhood. It’s not just Congress, and that we’re a bookstore in the neighborhood,” says co-owner Aaron Beckwith, who picked up the phone. “They didn’t quite seem to grasp that, and then demanded to be patched through to AOC directly. Which, of course, I cannot do.”
This is the second time this has happened in one or two weeks, says Beckwith. Another person called earlier asking to speak to their representative, and Beckwith had let the caller know that, well, he couldn’t really make that happen.

America s political class are lining up to get the Covid-19 vaccine, taking the shot on television and social media as a way to build confidence among a skeptical public, but also raising the question: should all politicians really be given priority?
Americans have seen White House officials, big names of the Senate and House of Representatives, and state governors get their coronavirus shots some after spending much of the year disputing whether Covid-19 was even a real healthcare crisis.
The injections delivered to top leadership such as President-elect Joe Biden, Vice President Mike Pence, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell send a message of confidence in the brand-new vaccines.

The House was poised to vote Monday on a massive 5,593-page package of legislation that combines pandemic relief with a bill to fund government operations just hours after lawmakers got the text.
The roughly US$900 billion aid package is attached to a US$1.4 trillion measure to fund government operations through the end of the fiscal year. Also included are major tax, energy and national security policy measures.
Congressional leaders said they expect the legislation to pass both chambers and the White House said President Donald Trump would sign it. Once the House acts it will go to the Senate.

Congress passed the second-biggest economic rescue package in U.S. history as part of a massive year-end spending bill, concluding months of discord between Democrats and Republicans over how to address the pandemic that continues to surge across the country.
In addition to funding government operations for the rest of the fiscal year, the legislation will provide aid for small businesses, supplemental unemployment benefits and $600 stimulus payments to most Americans and their children starting as soon as next week. It also includes money for schools, airlines and for distribution of vaccines.
