White House Defends ‘Quiet’ Diplomacy in Israel-Gaza Crisis Bloomberg 2 hrs ago Jordan Fabian
(Bloomberg) The Biden administration says it wants to de-escalate the violence between Israel and Palestinian militants in Gaza, but the White House is resisting calls to demand a cease-fire in a conflict that has cost at least 200 lives.
Pressed on why President Joe Biden and other top officials aren’t publicly calling for a cease-fire, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said Monday that “every statement we make is with the objective of reducing the violence and bringing an end to the conflict on the ground.”

World Demands Gaza Cease-Fire as Netanyahu Vows to Press On Bloomberg 1 hr ago David Wainer
(Bloomberg) The U.S. joined other world powers in calling for an end to violence in Israel and the Gaza Strip, as pressure grows on President Joe Biden to take a clearer stand after more than a week of deadly fighting.
That may not be enough, though, after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu signaled in a U.S. television interview that the fighting will continue as Israel pummels Gaza in response to rocket fire from Hamas and other militant groups.
“We’ll do whatever it takes to restore order and quiet and the security of our people and deterrence,” Netanyahu said on CBS News’ “Face the Nation” on Sunday.
