The Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) shared details of a tragic case yesterday in which an 8-month-old baby succumbed to Covid-19.
It is also understood that the boy s mother is fighting for her life in the intensive care unit (ICU), Jawi said on Twitter.

Tarawih (night Ramadan prayers) and Aidilfitri prayers are allowed in the Federal Territories with capacities differing based on the type of movement control order (MCO) imposed, and with the physical distancing of 1.5 metres.
Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) director Mohd Ajib Ismail said the permission, which was granted effective yesterday, also allowed Friday prayers, obligatory prayers and religious activities to be held for congregants within their respective kariah (area surrounding a mosque or surau).

LETTER | Women’s Aid Organisation (WAO) welcomes the launch of the ‘Mosques To Be Transit Centres for Domestic Violence Victims’ programme by the Women, Family, and Community Development Ministry and the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (Jawi).
It was reported yesterday that 14 mosques across Kuala Lumpur have committed to providing temporary boarding, counselling services, and basic necessities to survivors seeking refuge. These sites will function as Complaint Centres as well, open to individuals of all ethnicities and religions.
Jawi officers stationed at these mosques have been trained with a focus on applying empathy, attention, response, and support in handling domestic violence cases. Survivors will also receive a personal care kit including clean clothes, toiletries, and other basic necessities as a self-care aid during this time.

KUALA LUMPUR, April 30 The Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) will investigate allegations that three Muslim single mothers had to seek financial assistance from the church after their aid application was rejected by the zakat or related agencies.
Its minister Datuk Seri Zulkifli Mohamad said he would definitely have offered assistance to the individuals had he known about the matter.
