Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address farmers as part of the Kisan Kalyan Sammelan in Madhya Pradesh on December 18. The virtual address will be telecast live across all district headquarters of Madhya Pradesh and 23,000 villages of the country, reports suggest.
The address comes at a time when thousands of farmers, especially from Punjab and Haryana, are staging a sit-in protest at various borders of Delhi. The protest started on November 26. The farmers are demanding a complete rollback of the new farm reform laws and a guarantee on the Minimum Support Price (MSP) system being retained.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually address farmers in Madhya Pradesh on Friday via video conferencing as farmers protests near Delhi- Haryana border against three central laws enter week 4.
The Prime Minister s address at 2 pm will be via video link and will be telecast to around 23,000 villages. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, along with his other ministers, will also participate in the event from Raisen district.
The government s latest outreach comes amid strong remarks by the Supreme Court, which is hearing multiple petitions on the farmer protests on highways near Delhi.

As the farmers protest enters the 22nd day on Thursday, Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar has written an open letter to all the farmers to clear confusion over the three contentious agrarian laws. The Union Minister concluded his 8-page long letter to the farmers with six assurances that the Centre is ready to provide. Tomar has so far led six rounds of deliberations with the farmers unions which have ended inconclusively and has maintained that the Centre remains open to further deliberations as well.

A renowned aerospace scientist and Padma Vibhushan recipient, Roddam Narasimha, passed away yesterday at a private hospital in Bangalore. The scientist, who was 87 years old, suffered a brain haemorrhage on December 8.
Among the many honours bestowed upon for his contributions to the field of science, Roddam Narasimha was awarded the highest civilian award, Padma Vibhushan, in 2013. After the news of his death, several political figures have poured out respects for him and have lauded his contributions as a fluid dynamicist.
President Ram Nath Kovind referred to his demise as “a huge loss to the field of science and technology” and said the scientist was “an authority in fluid dynamics”.
