Dog captures rabid bat in vicinity of Ridge Road and Green Ridge Lane × SOUTH BRUNSWICK – A resident’s dog captured a bat in the vicinity of Ridge Road and Green Ridge Lane, which later tested positive for rabies. The bat was retrieved by South Brunswick Animal Control and transported to the New Jersey Department of Health Laboratory. The State Laboratory reported on May 19 that the bat tested positive for rabies, according to information provided by the South Brunswick Police Department. This is the third rabid animal reported within Middlesex County for 2021 and the first animal reported in South Brunswick. The South Brunswick Health Department continues to monitor rabies cases within the municipality.  Residents should report wild animals showing signs of unusual behavior to the South Brunswick Police Department at 732-329-4646.
