Robert Warren ‘Bob’ Brehmer WILMINGTON Robert Warren “Bob” Brehmer, 75, U.S. Navy, UA 322, preceded in death by his beloved wife Shirley, passed away in his sleep during the early morning of Thursday, Dec. 17, 2020. Born in Philadelphia, Bob spent the first 55 years of his life in South Jersey. A member of the U.S. Navy in the early 1960s, Bob was part of Airborne Patrol Squadron VP-21, flying in old P2Vs across the North Atlantic. After his honorable discharge, he returned home during the height of the 1960s where he met his future wife. Married in 1970, Bob and Shirley remained inseparable until her untimely death some 45 years later.

(WECT) - Students, parents and staff were notified Wednesday evening that Leland Middle School will close to in-person learning Thursday, December 17 due to increased COVID-19 activity. Thursday will be a staff workday with no classes for students. According to the Brunswick County Schools dashboard, Leland Middle School has six positive cases of COVID-19 and 20 people under quarantine. (Port City Daily photo/File) BRUNSWICK COUNTY Brunswick County Schools Board of Education unanimously voted to revert back to Plan C, requiring all grade levels to participate through remote-learning after Christmas break. The move to Plan C would apply through Jan. 19. This means students will attend classes virtually between Jan. 6 through Jan. 19; before the board’s decision, these dates would have been attended in-person. The school board will consider returning schools back to in-person instruction after reviewing Covid-19 infection numbers after returning from Christmas break.

(WECT) - The latest decision made by Brunswick County Schools moves all Town Creek Elementary School students (not just third grade) to remote learning Wednesday and for the rest of this week. The school currently has nine positive cases; contact tracing led to 63 people in self-quarantine. The Brunswick County Board of Education on Tuesday voted for all schools to revert to Plan C, remote-only learning, following the upcoming Christmas break. The move to Plan C would run through Jan. 18, for now.
