Der 37-jährige Kalifornier verdrückte am Sonntag 76 Würstchen in Brötchen und verbesserte damit seine frühere Bestleistung von 2020 um einen Hotdog. Nach Angaben der Veranstalter ist dies ein neuer Weltrekord.
Chestnut, der zum 14. Mal den Wettbewerb gewann, verschlang allein in der ersten Minute ein Dutzend Hotdogs. Am Ende lag der Ess-Profi mit dem Spitznamen Jaws (Kiefer) weit vor seinen 16 Mitstreitern. Den zweiten Platz errang Geoffrey Esper mit 50 Würstchenbroten, der Drittplatzierte Nick Wehry schaffte 44 Hotdogs.
