Chandrashekhar Azad joins UP Opposition alliance Observers, however, believe that the members of the new formation have strategically kept their ideology and leanings unclear
The non-BJP axis of smaller parties that is taking shape in Uttar Pradesh for the Assembly polls next year appeared close to enlisting an arguably impactful ally in Bhim Army president Chandrashekhar Azad on Saturday.
Azad met Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party chief Om Prakash Rajbhar in Lucknow on Saturday. “The Dalits and most backward classes are struggling to survive in Uttar Pradesh. We discussed this.,” said Chandrashekhar.
Rajbhar, who has named the new formation Bhagidari Sankalp Morcha, said Azad had agreed to join the alliance. He said the alliance would be one of the most formidable forces to take on the BJP in the 2022 elections.

NEW DELHI: The 2020 Bihar assembly elections may be called the turning point of Hyderabad Lok Sabha MP Asaduddin Owaisi-led All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM). The party may well be on its way to becoming the largest pan-India Muslim party.
AIMIM, which was once a Hyderabad-centric party - even in the Telangana capital, it has influence only in the Muslim-populated walled city - has spread its tentacles in a number of states across the country - from Bihar in the East to Maharashtra to the West and from Uttar Pradesh in the North to Telangana in the South.

Speaking at a function organised in Etawah on the occasion of 71st annual meeting of District Cooperative Bank, the PSP-L chief expressed displeasure over the offer made by his nephew Akhilesh.
Rejecting the one seat offer by his nephew Akhilesh Yadav ahead of 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls, Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party-Lohiya (PSP-L) chief Shivpal Yadav termed it as a cruel joke and said that he is ready to fight the elections strongly. The Samajwadi Party chief had offered a ministerial berth to his uncle Shivpal in the polls and stated that he will leave one seat of Jaswantnagar constituency for him.
Asaduddin Owaisi
LUCKNOW: All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Wednesday did not rule out the possibility of forging an alliance with any of UP s main political players for the 2022 assembly polls in the state. He also attacked West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee for describing AIMIM as a vote katwa and ‘advised’ her to look after her partymen who are joining BJP.
AIMIM has already announced that it would contest the assembly elections in UP and the party chief was in Lucknow to meet regional players from the state. His party had forged tie-ups with similar smaller players, who had helped his party perform impressively in recently concluded Bihar assembly polls where Owaisi’s party bagged five seats. He met Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party (SBSP) chief Om Prakash Rajbhar, triggering speculations of a Bihar-like alliance in UP as well.
