Two people were killed in separate homicides Wednesday night, raising the total number of homicides committed in this deadliest year ever in Columbus to 167.
The victims were identified as 19-year-old Shandese Brunner, of the Northeast Side, and 26-year-old Courtney Kelley, of the South Side.
According to Columbus police, Brunner was found around 7:42 p.m. Wednesday outside an apartment on the 1700 block of Shanley Drive on the city s Northeast Side. He was rushed to OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital with a gunshot wound but succumbed to his injuries at 9:01 p.m.
Detectives said two people came forward and said they had arranged to meet Brunner to sell or purchase some items. During that transaction, police said an altercation ensued and the shots were fired.
