New $11M fibre line to connect Whatì to high-speed internet
Using funding from the TÅı̨chÇ«, federal, and territorial government, the cable should connect as many as 152 homes to high-speed internet.

The federal, N.W.T. and TÅı̨chÇ« governments will invest nearly $11 million in improved broadband internet access for the community of Whatì, officials announced Thursday.
The investment should provide high-speed internet access to as many as 152 houses in the community of 470, a release sent Thursday reads.
The federal government has announced funding to bring high-speed internet to 756 households in Ontarioâs Halton Region.
Liberal MP Adam van Koeverden announced $441,200 in funding for Bell through the Universal Broadband Fund’s Rapid Response Stream.
Bell will contribute $1,286,200 to the project, which aims to bring connectivity to rural Ontario residents in Ashgrove, Campbellville, Carlisle, Cedar Springs, Freelton, Hornby, Morriston, Waterdown and other areas just outside Milton.
âToday is a really important day for so many of our neighbours here in Halton. Fast and reliable internet is essential for full participation in modern society,â Koeverden said in a statement. âRural households in our region deserve the same access to high-speed broadband.â
