The site where the replacement mast is planned PLANS to set up a 5G antenna on the roof of a nursery in Reading have been approved. Mobile Broadband Network Limited’s plans to replace six antennas on the building at 12 Portman Road were approved by Reading Borough Council on February 3. The three-storey building, which is currently occupied by Bubbles @ The Globe Day Nursery, has a telecommunications base station on the roof. According to the plans, the new antenna will improve 2G, 3G and 4G coverage in the area and provide 5G coverage. A council report states: “The upgraded infrastructure will provide high mobile download speeds and more reliable, quicker phone connections as well as increase capacity to provide services to a higher number of people at the same time and improved service for the emergency services network.
