A HALIFAX man has been jailed for 23 years for nine rapes and sexual offences against a child. Sean McConnell, 35 from Halifax, was convicted of nine counts of rape, sexual assault and attempted rape on February 12. He was sentenced to 23 years in jail at Bradford Crown Court on February 26. He was handed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will be added to the sex offenders register for life. He is also barred from working with children. The offences relate to one child victim, which date back to 2006. The victim came forward to report McConnell s offending in 2017. An investigation was launched by Calderdale specialist child abuse investigators and he was subsequently arrested and charged with 14 offences.
Three men have appeared at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates Court charged with drugs offences THREE men have been charged with offences relating to the supply of drugs after cocaine with a suspected street value of £1.4 million was recovered in a police operation in Bradford. Faruk Miah, 43, of Cornwall Place, Bradford, and Foraz Miah, 46, of Daisy Fields, Bradford, were charged with possession with intent to supply class A and B drugs. They were both remanded in custody to attend Bradford Crown Court on March 11. Dulon Miah, 41, of Cornwall Place, Bradford, was released on bail charged with possession with intent to supply a class B drug. He will also attend crown court on the same date.
THE inquest into the death of Santokh ‘Charlie’ Singh opened yesterday. The hearing, at Bradford Coroners’ Court, heard the 59-year-old was found dead at his home on Airedale Road, Undercliffe. Bradford, (pictured above) on November 30 last year. The provisional cause of death was a head injury, but the full forensic post-mortem examination results are awaited. Police requested a suspension of the inquest as a suspect has been arrested and charged in connection with Mr Singh’s death. His son, Phillip Badwal, 24, of Airedale Road, was charged with murder and will next appear before Bradford Crown Court on March 19 for a plea and trial preparation hearing.
