Paul Capuvanno, 50, appeared before Bradford Crown Court via video link from prison on four cases with a string of 24 theft and burglary charges on them. These include stealing charity boxes from sites in Bradford and other burglaries across the district. The Recorder of Bradford, Judge Richard Mansell QC, told Capavanno he will next appear before Bradford Crown Court for a further hearing on March 22. An appeal from West Yorkshire Police to trace Capuvanno, of Mortimer Row, Laisterdyke, in connection with a burglary investigation was launched earlier this month.

A man who shone a laser into the eyes of a police helicopter pilot has been described as an idiot and a liar by a judge.
Benjamin Fort told police he thought the aircraft above Keighley in West Yorkshire was a UFO in an attempt to explain his actions.
The helicopter was taking part in a search for a missing woman at the time.
Judge Jonathan Rose jailed Fort for six months and told him he would have sent him to prison for longer if he could.
Andrew Duffy has been jailed at Bradford Crown Court today for aggravated vehicle taking A MAN who took a friend’s car and drove at up to 120mph on a Bradford motorway during a police chase has been jailed. Andrew Duffy, 38, went out for drinks with a friend and then took his car, a silver Ford Mondeo. Duffy then joined the eastbound M62 from junction 28 (Tingley Interchange) and drove at speeds of between 100mph and 120mph. He was spotted on the motorway by police officers, who used their car’s lights and sirens to indicate for him to stop, which Duffy ignored.

The 63-year-old was jailed following a Mail investigation that revealed dozens of private tutors had continued working despite previous convictions.
Unlike teachers, private tutors are not required by law to have criminal record checks to work with schoolchildren.

It is the first time the Telegraph & Argus has published pictures of Alex Bates, 19, of Eastfield Gardens, Holme Wood, Bradford, and Rashpal Singh Gill, 40, of Leeds Road, Bradford. The pair were convicted by the jury this morning of the murder of Paul Ackroyd who was attacked at a flat in Bradford and dragged dying into the street. Mohammed Jawaid Khan, 53, of Leylands Lane, Heaton, Bradford, was cleared of murder but found guilty of assisting an offender.
