Three services, that normally run through the heart of Holme Wood, were cut short yesterday. First West Yorkshire announced on Twitter in the morning, that the 608, 617 and 618 buses were not serving the Holme Wood estate due to vandalism. The 617 and 618 services terminated at Dudley Hill roundabout and the 608 ended at Broadstone Way/Lymington Drive instead. The services began operating as normal again from 4.57pm that day, according to First West Yorkshire. It is the latest in a string of vandalism incidents involving buses within a similar area. Last week, children smashed a bus window and threw stones as a bus driver pulled into Burnham Avenue, in Bierley - just over a mile away from Holme Wood.
ATTACKS using bricks and stones damaged multiple taxis on the Holme Wood estate on Friday. Police branded the attacks “completely unacceptable” and a Bradford taxi firm manager claimed his company’s vehicles were not the only ones subjected to a terrifying attack. Tawheed Ghazanfar, manager of Barkerend Private Hire, claimed: “Two of our cars have been smashed up on Broadstone Way, but when I reported it to the police they told me ten taxis had been attacked with bricks and stones that night. “The driver of our mini-bus was scared when they were throwing bricks and stones,” said Mr Ghazanfar. “Fortunately he was not injured because he was inside the vehicle, but he’s been off for three days.
