Bradford councillors petition for more vaccines after hot spot designation

  BARRIE, ONT. After being declared a COVID-19 hot-zone , the town of Bradford West Gwillimbury is looking for an increased supply of vaccines. Councillors in Bradford are calling on Simcoe-Muskoka s medical officer of health to push the province to provide more doses. The fact that our distribution of vaccines is apparently less than our per capita allotment would be troubling enough, but the reality that we are the only hot zone in your district should be reflected in surging vaccines to address this issue, councillors wrote in a letter to Dr. Charles Gardner Bradford has the highest incidence rate in Simcoe County, with 221 cases per 100,000 residents, nearly triple Barrie s rate.

COVID-19 News: Simcoe Muskoka reports 75 new COVID-19 cases, plus 2 more virus-related deaths

  BARRIE, ONT. Simcoe Muskoka has now lost 200 residents to COVID-19. The health unit listed two more Simcoe County residents, a man and woman, both over 65, who have died with complications from the virus. As the region s death toll rises, so do daily case counts. The Simcoe Muskoka health unit reports a jump in the number of single-day infections Thursday. There are 75 new COVID-19 cases, with 22 in Barrie, 17 in Bradford West Gwillimbury and 10 in New Tecumseth. The remaining cases are in Collingwood, Innisfil, Essa and Midland. Wasaga Beach, Orillia, Springwater, Muskoka Lakes, Gravenhurst and Adjala-Tosorontio each had a single case.  One location is pending.
