Good News: StoryWalk signs offer outdoor Jacksonville literary adventure

Klutho Park in Springfield in the form of StoryWalk, a series of kid-sized signs featuring the disassembled pages of a picture book  in order and spaced several feet apart along a walking path. Tap the Magic Tree by Christie Matheson is an interactive story about a magical tree. The StoryWalk project was created by the Jacksonville Public Library in partnership with the city s Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department and the Springfield Preservation and Revitalization Council. It invites kids and adults to read, get outdoors and be active at the same time.  A new book is scheduled to be installed every three months. Klutho Park is at 204 W. Third St.

Florida Veteran Honored with Mobility-Equipped Vehicle Wounded Warriors Family Support ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla., March 05, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) Wounded Warriors Family Support presented Brandon Long of St. Augustine, Florida, with a 2021 Ford F-150 XLT mobility-equipped vehicle in late February as part of its Mobility is Freedom program. Long, who put 1,000 miles on his new truck in one week, is medically retired from the United States Marine Corps, where he served active duty from 2009-12. Long was deployed to Afghanistan prior to a medical retirement. Long was severely injured Dec. 21, 2010, when he stepped on a 40-pound Improvised Explosive Device (IED) as he conducted a foot patrol in preparation of moving a unit north.

Brandon Long Honored with Mobility-Equipped Ford F150 Brandon Long, USMC (Ret) of St. Augustine, has been honored with a mobility-equipped 2021 Ford F150 XLT truck in gratitude for his service to the United States military.  The recognition was bestowed on Long through donations to the independent nonprofit organization “Wounded Warriors Family Support”.  Long was deployed to Afghanistan where he served on active duty from 2009-12. On December 21, 2010, he stepped on a 40-pound Improvised Explosive Device while he was conducting a foot patrol in preparations of relocating his unit.  The extent of his injuries was “severe” according to first reports. However, before reaching home, his family was told the chances of his survival were “extremely slim”.
