American Airlines Adds Boeing 787 Flights to Orlando

MIAMI – American Airlines (AA) will begin flying its Boeing 787 Dreamliners to Orlando International Airport to match greater demand this summer. American Airlines in summer 2021 expects to fly 90% of its domestic seat capacity compared to summer 2019 in anticipation of strong demand. With this recovery in the domestic and leisure market, the carrier is shifting its widebodies to Orlando (MCO) and adding more routes to reconnect customers as AA continues to rebuild its network. Alaska Airlines, SkyNRG to Produce SAF from Solid Waste

MIAMI – Alaska Airlines (AS) has signed a partnership with SkyNRG that aims to advance the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in its aircraft. As stated in a company press release yesterday, both companies signed “a memorandum of understanding (MOU) committing to increased investment in sustainable aviation fuel (SAF),” adding that the agreement “builds on a long history of Alaska leadership advancing SAF and partners the airline with the global SAF pioneers at SkyNRG Americas.” The agreement states that SkyNRG will initially focus on the development of sustainable fuel production facilities that will supply Western US airports. Air Canada to Reach Net Zero Emissions by 2050

MIAMI – In a press release, Air Canada (AC) confirmed its major commitment to supporting climate change resilience across the sector. The airline has set lofty climate goals, aiming to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) across its entire global operations by 2050. To achieve this, AC has set total midterm GHG net reduction goals for its air and ground operations by 2030, relative to its 2019 baseline, and has planned to invest US$50m in Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), as well as emission reductions and deletions. Michael Rousseau, President, and Chief Executive Officer at AC said the following: “Economic growth and sustainability are equally important, and we have a strong track record for both. Despite the severe impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, we remain deeply committed to long-term sustainability. Climate change is critical, and we believe we can and must do more to address this for the future of our environment.”
